10 killed as herdsmen, villagers clash in Delta state

A violent clash between villagers in the Ogume community in Delta state and suspected Fulani herdsmen has left at least 10 dead, reports have said.Vanguard reports that the villagers challenged the herdsmen who they claim allowed their cattle vandalise farmlands in the area.There was tension in the community, located in Ndokwa West local government area, following the clash on Saturday evening. A community leader told newsmen: “My community was invaded by Hausa herdsmen using AK 47 rifles and six people were killed while three persons still missing are believed to have been killed too. The most painful aspect was that all efforts to make the police to come to our rescue were abortive.”Police have confirmed the report and, as usual, promise that an investigation is ongoing.
